Refining Dogs is located in Thrall, TX. It is locally owned and ran by Justine Alvarado. Justine has been a dog lover all her life. She started out working as a kennel technician until she was accepted to America’s Premiere School for Professional Dog Trainers, Starmark Academy. She went on to work as a Trainer and Behavior Specialist at Starmark’s Animal Behavior Center. With many years of experience, Justine has worked with all kinds of breeds in advanced obedience and behavior modification. She enjoys helping owners communicate more effectively with their pets, and has helped many dogs with fear, anxiety, and aggressive behaviors.
OUR METHODS: THERE IS NO "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" IN TRAINING.
It is very important to consider every option to train in a way that most benefits the individual dog. We adjust to your dog’s needs to make sure they have fun while learning new expectations. Communication is key when it comes to a healthy relationship between dog and owner. After listening to clients who have had training elsewhere, and personally working at local training facilities throughout our career, we have learned what works and what doesn’t. Refining Dogs has created a program that puts emphasis on teaching the owners how to better understand their dogs and how to keep the training maintained.

Our mission is to help those who want to be able to enjoy their dogs full potential. Many dogs just haven’t had the right guidance needed for them to succeed, sometimes producing a fearful, anxious, over-stimulated, or reactive dog. However, with our knowledge of multiple methods and use of different training tools, we can adjust our training to fit your dogs way of learning. Dogs do not all learn in the same way, just like people. Unfortunately, there are those who have spent too much time and money trying to force a certain method to work, when a simple adjustment could make all the difference.
